Tasawer Yosufzai
Community Advocate

Tasawer Yosufzai is a community advocate with a diverse background and a deep commitment to personal growth and helping others. Originally from Afghanistan, Tasawer grew up in Kyrgyzstan before moving to the United States as a refugee in 2015. She completed her high school education in Kyrgyzstan and earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration.

Tasawer began her professional journey working in hospitality at lifestyle hotels in Washington, D.C. She later transitioned to the nonprofit sector, contributing to organizations such as Common Grounds, Roshan Proactive Humanitarian Program, Umoja, and currently, United Voices for Newcomer Rights, where she serves as a community advocate.

Beyond her professional life, Tasawer is passionate about nature and enjoys experiencing different cultures. She is also deeply interested in IT programming, constantly seeking to expand her knowledge in this field. Her personal values—honesty, kindness, respect, family, and giving back to the community—are the guiding principles of her life.

Tasawer speaks multiple languages, including English, Dari, Pashto, Urdu, and Russian, which reflects her multicultural background and ability to connect with people from various walks of life.

Her goal is to continuously become a better version of herself, learning from every aspect of life, overcoming challenges, and being an inspiration to her family and those around her. She hopes that when people hear her name, they have something nice to say.
