How community groups are empowering refugees and immigrants

The city of Albuquerque and other organizations like United Voices for Newcomers rights have been helping around 150 asylum seekers fly to their final destination out of the Albuquerque International Sunport.

City councilors unanimously approved an interoffice memorandum modifying the contract with United Voices for Newcomer Rights to give the organization an additional $50,000 — bringing the total contract to $150,000 since April 2023

"United Voices of Newcomer Rights-UVNR is a refugee-led organization that cultivates educational, economic, cultural, social, and physical and mental health resources in partnership with newcomers—refugees, immigrants, asylum-seekers, and others—who are new to the United States and New Mexico.
